April 14-19, 2010 Portrait Techniques $450

The first step to creating beautiful and expressive portraits starts with the Portrait Techniques Seminar. With Robert's new revised method, you will learn the techniques necessary to understand the complexity of painting the human face. During this six day seminar, students will work on an extensive sample painting with a variety of facial features as well as complete the two portraits shown below.

June 23 - 28, 2010 Certified Instructors Exclusive Seminar: Classic Cowboys $450

Whether you are from the West or the East, this cowboy themed seminar will heighten your skill level and provide a wonderful learning experience. The next level for all of us should be advanced figurative works and these figure studies will definitely enhance your ability and allow us to explore different techniques and styles. Open to all of our certified instructors, this is a chance to challenge yourself while interacting with your fellow instructors from around the country.

July 7 - 10, 2010 Plein Aire: Village Highlights $325

After painting in my neighbor's side yard, I was reminded that you don't have to go very far to find an inspiring scene to paint. Painting on location has been my best teacher and is tremendously rewardingThis four day seminar is recommended for anyone with previous experience in my regular classes or anyone who has previously taken a plein air class with me. I've come up with new and improved methods to help us to learn and see more in this wonderful experience. With my specific color palette and hands-on assistance, you will gain confidence and develop skills while creating your original artwork. The seminar will begin in the studio for thet first day with set up and orientation. During the afternoon and remaining days, classes will be conducted outdoors at different locations around the historic and quaint village of Canal Winchester. (All new locations!) Our goal will be two paintings per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Transportation and beverages will be provided.  September 15 - 20, 2010 Photoscapes Seminar $450

The Painterly Approach to Working from Photos

Learn the proper steps for painting from your own photos by using a painterly approach! Working from pre-selected photos, we will create paintings using Robert's highly successful plein aire style techniques while in a studio setting. Learn the techniques to simplify the process of turning photos into artwork while creating compositions with depth and atmosphere.  Enhance your drawing skills and learn proper photography techniques to serve as a basis for your landscape artwork. This seminar is a must for teachers who are struggling with the process and for all students interested in heightening their skill level. For those who attended the 2009 seminar, this will not be a repeat...all paintings will be new and more exciting compositions and techniques will be taught! You will also work from more of your own photographs with Robert's guidance.
