About the artist  . . .

Robert Warren, a professional artist for more than 20 years has established a successful career in art and art instruction. Robert opened his current studio, Robert Warren's Art Loft, in Canal Winchester, Ohio, in 1986. Robert, his wife Donna and their three children moved to Canal Winchester in 1991.

Robert's love of art began as a child. His high school teacher inspired him to learn as much as he could and instilled in him a great love of art, nature, and beauty. He then went on to major in art at both Ohio University and Ohio State University. Although greatly influenced by his mentor and dear friend, the late William Alexander, his ala prima style of painting and teaching are basically self-taught. Bill was a pioneer in "teaching the world to paint" through television in the early 1970's.

Robert has produced more than 200 instructional art shows for television. His instructional television shows have been broadcast for more than 10 years. He is seen worldwide on Cable Television and Public Broadcast Stations. His shows have inspired countless numbers of people to paint and appreciate the beauty of nature and art.

As a professional artist, Robert has taught classes world wide. He has made a point of passing his great love of art to his many students. He has often been described as one of the most productive artists in the country. His travels bring him into contact with many people and locales. Art has taken him every state including Hawaii and Alaska. Despite his travels around the world, he still has pride in calling Canal Winchester his home. Students from California to Maine who attended classes at his studio come back year after year to enjoy the "quaint, comfortable Village of Canal Winchester" and the hospitality offered by the downtown area community.

His studio, The Art Loft is located at 75 North High Street in Canal Winchester, Ohio. It is housed in the restored Grange Hall which was built in 1874. From landscapes to classic portraits, Robert teaches numerous seminars and classes from beginning through advanced levels. Robert has made complex subjects easy to understand, analyze, and paint in a very relaxed atmosphere. Technique videos are available in several areas of interest such as landscapes, still lifes, and portraits.  

The gallery exhibits an impressive display of both original paintings and prints by Robert and other local artists. With more than 100 original oil paintings on display, you will find a broad selection of subjects including landscapes from Alaska to Mexico, seascapes, still lifes, wildlife, portraits and florals.

Robert's daughter, Robin, has been working with him since 2000. With a degree in Retail Merchandising, she has taken over as manager as The Art Loft, reconstructed the website and worked on many different aspects of the family business. Robert's son, Shawn, runs the framing and matting in the gallery and also assists in product production.
